I've been on Yellow creek a couple times. It's pretty peacefull/quiet on the creek except for the occasional 4-wheeler.

Canoe or Kayak

Gonzo, Try a kayak, I'm 5'11" 195 lbs and paddle 9.0 Dagger Zydeco without any problem. I is fairly easy on the knees and back with the seat and foot pegs adjusted right. I am rapidly approaching 60 and a kayak works for me. I plan on being on the Grand River Pasta Paddle so if you are there you are welcome to try my kayak.

Pallidin / BobK,

Man I'd love to have a kayak just to run the sreams with . However , I'm 6'3'' and 285 pds . I'll be 60 in July too Bob .

Besides , many of my trips are canoe camping trips. I need to haul my gear besides myself. Also I have at least one more Boundary Waters trips left on my bucket list .

Thx for the thought ,
Gonzo

Gonzo -- are you a wimp? I'm 66. That kayak of mine holds 350 lbs ( and probably more). Huge storage if you keep stuff in bags. I've had it in Canada with the works -- tent, sleeping bag, food ,clothes, fishing gear, etc. Then you got bungee cords on top too. Nice thing is it runs rivers or lakes. Its been perfect for the club trips.

I'm going to a smaller kayak because of arthritis in both hips and need a lighter one thats easier to load, etc.

sore knees

Gonegonzo,

Don't buy any kayaks until you try my solo canoe. Yaks are fun and they are trendy, but if someday you would like to try wilderness camping with a little more than your toothbrush and a bivwack, then a solo canoe is worth a closer look.
