Safety Training
Hello, At this time Tuesday July 12th, other than my family I only have 1 canoe and 2 kayaks signed up for the safety training. I expected that filling 10 canoe slots might be hard but thought 15 kayak spots would fill up quick. The DCNR rangers have a 5:1 ratio and wanted to only have 10 slots for kayaks. I fought to get an extra trainer to open it up to 15 instead of 10 because I did not want people to be left out.(please don’t make me regret that effort) I have to have the Registration/release form turned into the DCNR office at Pymatuning by July 20th at the latest. (Earlier would be better). Please if you are interested in attending the class please email me your sign up now! This is a good opportunity to get some valuable information with just a little time investment.

K & C RSVP 2 kayaks
Sign up Ken and Cheryl for the kayak class.
We have had some safety classes in past years but it's been a while now. A refresher class would not hurt. If there ends up being many paddlers that have never had "official" training we would offer to let them have our spots. For members that have never have never fallen out of their boat and tried to get back in (in deep water) this will be a valuable experience. Just experiencing how hard it is to swim while wearing a life vest is an important lesson. ps... K & C also expected this class to fill quickly so did not sign up earlier. |
Safety training
Please sign up Jeff and Judy Graham for two kayaks as well (although I'd really like to know what to do in a canoe as well :).
I guess what I am saying Dustin -- if those kayak spots miraculously fill up, I'd transfer over to a canoe spot to free up a kayak spot. Just let me know. Judy |
I am signed up and looking forward to the training!

Looking forward to safety training
It’s always good to have refresher safety training whatever one’s experience. I would do it every year if available. Looking forward to the canoe training on the 30th.

Kayak full/canoe 3 slots
DCNR had an instructor cancel for Saturday for the Kayak class. So this limits the participants from 15 down to 10. As of now I had 10 kayakers signed up so the Kayak class is full. I did have one kayaker who could be persuaded to switch to a Canoe if someone is desperately wanting the class. I also have two other kayakers that would forfeit their spots if there are people who need it more. There are three canoe slots still available.

"camping"
fwiw... K & C will be at group camp sometime late afternoon Friday. We have a high top camper van so will "camp" where ever we find a parking spot along the drive. Anyone else camping Friday?
|
See you then
Tent camping Friday night, will get there around 3:00 pm and hoping to do a campsite paddle. Saturday will do the Safety Class, Picnic and group paddle. Weather looks great!

Oh Boy - food and music
This will be great... Fresh caught Walleye cooked on a fire AND campfire songs with a Baritone accompaniment. The neighbors will love it.

Excellent Safety Class!
Many, many thanks to Dustin Noel for organizing the safety class. The instructors were extremely knowledgeable, and it was really helpful to practice in-water rescues and boat re-entry. I learned some very helpful lessons and techniques that I was not previously aware of.

Thank you.
Thank you everyone who came out. I really enjoyed it and was happy to see so many people learning. The instructors really had fun too. They said everyone was so nice and eager to learn. I think one is even going to join the club. Very cool day. Thank you.
