Sunday, April 15th "the Grand"
Join us for a scheduled trip down the Grand River starting at 11:00 am at Hidden Valley Park in Madison, then paddling to Mason's Landing in Painesville twp; about twelve miles and three hours time. I will be using my trailer to help with the shuttling and another trailer would be a huge plus. I will also be picking up some "Subway" party subs for a mid-way lunch on the river, a heads up as to how many participants, would be greatly appreciated. The Grand is very sensitive to "run-off" or lack there of, and water levels rapidly change. I will make several postings as the 15th draws near, as we do have another option for both high and low water levels above the dam in Harpersfield. Feel free to call with any questions or concerns; Cell:

Grand River Practice
Could we consider it practice for the race on the 21st.
|
Not really Deb, as we are doing the section from Hidden Valley down, and the race starts at Harpersfield and ends at Hidden Valley. But I suppose you could call it practice if you wanted to.
|
I'll be there.

Practice?

Grand River
Looking forward to the row.
Its been a while since I have been up there. I went to a livery off of Fobes Road somewhere. The Family had these great tepee's to stay in and floated to the covered bridge. |
Jim, that should be fine. I'll let you know for sure next week.

I plan to be there. How is the water level looking? jp |
The Grand River
Before I saw the forcast this week, I was starting to worry as the grand is only about 10 inches over summer levels as of this morning. Rain is forcast over the next two days and we only need a little; better still air temps to be mid to high sixties on Sunday. If the "Canypsie Gods" smile on us just a little, we might be in for a special day. :32::32::32:

Looking forward to paddling!
I'm hoping to join you Sunday if the water is high enough to paddle! I'll probably have a friend tagging along (another canoeist...)

The Grand
The water level is low, but navigable by canoe or kayak, we may have to paddle the shorter section from Harpersfield to Hidden Valley if we don't get sufficient rain tonight. We are on for tommorow with a 40% chance of rain and possible thunderstorms though the air temps to be mid 70's. Meeting place is still the same and Ed is being kind enough to bring his trailer as well, we should be able to shuttle everyone with ease. Debbie I have a solo canoe for you and Crash, just bring Pfd's for you and Crash. Everyone come hungry and please be prepared for a shower or two. Thanks

Rich I plan to be there tomorrow - hungry, etc. My first paddle of the year. I hope it is the park near your home, as I actually still have directions for getting there.

I will be there tomorrow and bringing another canoeist. See you then!

Thank you very much for the beautiful day on the water And Thank you Rich for the use of a canoe! Aonther fear busted, I can paddle a canoe and don't have to sit in the front, I don't need a man to paddle a canoe.

The Grand River
The Grand was so low on Sunday, the decision was made to paddle from Harpersfield to Madison in lew of Madison to Masons Landing. Seventeen of us and one pampered pooch, spent three and one half hours making our way over rocks and the shallow riff's. The Air temp was 69 degrees at the put-in, and 79 degrees at the take-out at Hidden Valley, we had sun in our faces most of the day. We paddled seven canoes and nine kayaks to two lunch stops, John Paul ammused us all with his flying canoe as the wind gusted to over 25 mph at times. Thanks all for sharing one beautiful day, maybe next time we can add some water.
Rich You are most welcome Deb, glad the solo canoe worked out for you and Crash. |
Many thanks to Rich for leading us down a bony but very beautiful Grand River on Sunday and for supplying a couple of five foot?? subs for hungry paddlers along the way. It was a great day to be on the river.

Thank You
Thanks Rich for a great trip. I loved it and look forward to more trips on the Grand River this year.
