Allegheny R. ice

Saw a clip on the Weather Channel this morning of the ice jam on the Allegheny River near Parker, PA (just down river from Foxburg). Amazing footage of huge ice jam at +3 ft above flood stage.

I didn't find that clip online, but here's a similar one from yesterday:

Forget the Go-Pro !

This is what Mike needs to film a paddle trip.

Drones would be a great way to scout for snags and blowdowns blocking a river.

I thought that's what you have Mike and Ed for !! (Ken says laughing)

Cheryl and I took advantage of the nice day Monday and went to Mill Creek park for a walk in the gorge below the mill. Some trails were still smooth ice but we took ice cleats with us. The water over the falls was impressive. Afterwards we took a drive down along the Mahoning. We are not familier with the river below Youngstown. We stopped at the B&O station. Water was very high. The posts for one of the exercise stations was only above the water by about 6". I assume river was maybe 4 foot above normal? Also took a look at the Struthers and Lowellville dams. Very ugly. I say drones with dynamite!!
