Pennsylvania water pollution

As fracking has moved into Ohio over the last couple of years, we in the wastewater business have had many discussions about how our business would be affected. As the attached article states, pollution control facilities are required to test for only a limited number of pollutants to be deemed safe for discharge into waterways. Many of the chemicals used in fracking are proprietary, we don?t even know what to test for, and radiation is certainly not on the list.

Please read this article paying particular attention to the map. These are the waterways that many of us frequent. I know that I will not be filtering from any waterway downstream of these facilities.

Frightening article....waste water from fracking is stepping in to take the place of all the Steel Industry waste water that rendered many of our streams and rivers lifeless. Sounds like the stuff in fracking waste water is even more deadly than the chemicals the mills dumped. Just when those of us who enjoy the waterways thought things were getting better.
