Buckaloon RSVP

The trip to Buckaloons is fast approaching (Sept 8,9,10) and we need to hear from folks that plan to attend and participate in the meals - breakfast Saturday & Sunday mornings and dinner Saturday evening. Meal fee will be collected at camp, probably about $25 / person will cover all three meals. Breakfast typically consists of pancakes, french toast, bacon, sausage, and eggs. We're still pondering on the dinner menu, but to give you an idea, last year was chicken, potatoes, some sort of salad, and dessert. This is a tradition that pre-dates Jodi & I hosting this, and has added to the comradery at camp, with everyone pitching-in to cook, and clean-up after meals. If you have not been to this one before, you will still need to have your own beverages, and drinks and snacks for on the river. There may still be spots available to reserve, if you have not yet done so and would like to participate. If you have any questions, please reach out on here or text / call. Mark 724-601-9801 or Jodi 724-417-6673.

Can't make it... again...groan

I'm not sure what it it with this Buckaloons event but every year we seem to have a conflict with attending. This year there is an event Cheryl needs to attend to on Saturday. With a three hour drive Buckaloon's not a good prospect for a day trip either.

About the second year of this Buckaloons event K & C had choice of Buckaloons OR leaving for a two week vacation across KY and MO to hike and paddle. We chose KY. This was also the vacation in rural KY that the van got broadsided by a bass boat. The prop ripped two gaping holes in the driver side of van. Fortunately van was driveable and after two rolls of duct tape we were able to continue on. Should have gone to Buckaloons. ---Ken

ps... If Mr. Tolson should happen to attend, make sure someone puts a GPS locater in his boat in case he misses the take out.

I am always careful to watch for the take-out, and I will shepherd those who stray from the flock. Maybe we'll try switching back to a week later next year. Just can't seem to hit ideal weather one way or the other. Fingers crossed for this year. Safe travels to you and Cheryl.

I am posting a link to the thread Most Embarrassing Paddling Experiences to encourage other paddlers to avoid the missed take out experience and to give everyone some laughs and chuckles.

Now I think it’s about time for a few others to ‘fess up and add their stories to that thread….Ahem! Ken, Ken….
