Upper Cuyahoga River -- Apr. 4
Our first trip of 2009 is the Upper Cuyahoga River at Russell Park in Geauga Co. on April 4 at 10:30a.m. This is always a nice trip and is on rain or shine as we have waited out rain at the covered picnic shelter by the launch area. Pack a sandwich/snack & a drink and we'll pull over to eat on the run. If going, contact Paladin1aa@yahoo.com by April 2 .
Directions -- Go west on Rt 422 from Warren towards Cleveland into Geauga Co. When you reach Welshfield (Troy,Ohio), a one light town, lol, go down the hill and cross the Cuyahoga River bridge. A half mile from there turn right on Rapids Rd. and go 2.5 miles to Russell Park on your right. Drive all the way back to the lauch area. Don't be a wussy !! |
We had 5 show up for the opener ( 4 kayaks & 1 canoe). The day was cool but dry. We faced high winds and high water with some current. So, we elected to go north . The sun broke out and made the day seem O.K. Spotted a ground hog, who was spooked, since I got with-in 10 ft. of him on the riverbank. Birds were active.
