Those darn eagle "kids"

K & C took kayaks to east end of Magodore Res Monday afternoon for a couple hours of paddling. Warm, sunny, almost no air moving. The spatterdock (water lilies) are just coming up above the water so haven't yet "clogged" up the shallow areas. We were able to paddle back into some remote nooks that are usually inaccessible. Lots of great blue herons, woodpeckers, mystery ducks and several (7-8) young eagles flying around, goofing off. Flying, they would turn upside down and grab with talon at other birds feet. Kids! At one spot we were close to a line of tall pine trees. One eagle swooped overhead and made a fast entry to a perch in the pines. It took the spot that two herons were sitting on. They took off squaking, croaking in displeasure at having been routed out by the eagle. I'm positive there was some sort of cussing going on.

We saw only one fishing boat and two other kayaks at a distance, so mostly had the lake to ourselves.

Hope everyone is managing alright as we wait this virus out.

Perhaps they were engaging in a typical mating ritual. It's that time of year.

Great story, thank you. I wish I had been there to see that too.
