The Grand River 04-03-11

This year the TCT Grand River Run will be starting at Harpersfield Park at Noon on Sunday, and we will be taking out at Hidden Valley Park in Madison, a distance of 8.3 miles. Normally with a group this is a 2 1/2 hour paddle, with high water signifigantly less, hence the later starting time and permitting a little more travel time to our meeting place at Hidden Valley Park, Madison, Ohio. We will shuttle both watercraft and people from Hidden Valley to our starting point at Harpersfield Park at 11:30 am. This stretch of the Grand is designated both wild & scenic, bring your camera and your best gear as club pictures will be taken. Best Digital Photo capturing the spirit of the TCT outing will be judged by three non-participating members at the 2011 Christmas Party. The winner will collect $50.00 compliments of Fako's Family Barbershop in Madison.
You may Google Mapquest for direction's or contact me on my cell if you have questions. Feel free to bring snacks, as finger foods will be served on the river.

Hi Rich,

The 2011 trip schedule that Ed posted recently shows the Grand on April 3 and Little Beaver Creek on April 17th....Has the date for the Grand been changed?

Wrong Date on scheduled Grand River Trip

Sorry Paddlers, Originally date was set for 4-17-11, but was changed at the planning meeting to 4-03-11, the correct date. My mistake, thanks again JP for catching that one. I am unable to edit the thread headline, maybe Justin could make the appropriate change to 04-03-11.

Photo contest

Looking for more sponsers for prize money. Would like to see a year long contest with first, second and third place money. If you or anyone else for that matter can come up with an additional sponser to sweeten the kitty, we could include all club scheduled events. $50.00 is not much incentive for a year long quest. :41::41:

The Grand River 04-03-2011

Sunny Sky's and 45 degrees predicted. Water level should be about perfect at one and one half feet above summer levels. Looking sweet for Sundays paddle. :32::32::32:

The snow ski season is still going strong up in NY where I'll be this weekend. Hope to catch up with everyone after the paddle if I get home in time. Have a GRAND time!

Count me in. Also son Brad and grandson Evan -- two boats.

WE used to meet at Harpersfield and leave the boats there, then take the cars to Hidden Valley. The extra folks just stay with the boats and only the drivers get shuttled. But if you want to meet at Hidden Valley is fine. You done this trip yet to see if there are obstructions ?

BTW, I don't like "fingers". Gives me heartburn................

Grand River Shuttling

Alan, and other TCT Paddlers

Either way, it's all good, just trying to ease the pain at the end of the paddle, by having all the vehicles in one location. I have made two shuttle trips with my truck and trailer to Harpersfield in under 45 minutes, and somehow it seems less painless if you don't have to shuttle post paddle.
I would encourage everyone not wearing a "wetsuit" or a "drysuit" to bring a change of clougth's for the way home; just in case, and all may change at my house if they so desire.
I am getting a Subway Party platter for paddlers to eat on the river, Muchies to pass along with the platter would be a welcome addition. I have not made a pre-trip paddle from Harpersfield to Madison, as water levels before this week were dangerously high. We will all have to keep a lookout for Deadfalls and sweepers.
John Paul, I have a kevlar solo for you to try, in lew of lugging that boat of yours this far north. Look forward to seeing all. Rich
