FOXBURG: Alleghany River

Foxburg Paddle: Alleghany River (Emlenton to Parker)

When- Sunday August 23rd

Where- Emlenton Boat Lunch 507 River Ave, Emlenton, PA 16373
GPS 41.176363,-79.708356

Time- 10:30 am.

This year we will all meet at the Emlenton Boat Launch, and unload. Then we will shuttle down to Parker.

I hope to be on the water a little before noon as our reservations at the Alleghany Grill are for 1pm.

I called and all our information was already in the computer. The manager said they are glad to see we will be returning.

After we eat we usually walk around town and check out the winery, chocolate store or get ice cream. We try to regroup and paddle down to the mouth of the Clarion River. Once at the confluence of the rivers we stop at the beach area and swim and jump off the bridge abutment. LOTS OF FUN!!!

Then we paddle the last mile and half to our vehicles.

Makes for a super fun day for all skill levels!!!!

shuttle question

We were planning on only bringing one vehicle. Will we be able to be shuttled back? Not sure how this works. Or do we need to bring 2 vehicles?

WOW is all I can say. What a perfect trip, on a day that was beautiful.
Second largest TCT trip since I been in the club. We had 36 boats with 40 paddlers and one doggie (Rogue).
On the down side kayaks out numbered the canoes. 4 Canoes, 1 Paddle Board, 1 two person kayak , 1 Whitewater playboat, & 29 kayaks.

With a group this big everything worked out great. Meeting in Emlenton and doing the shuttle to parker was super easy!!.

Once on the water we had on flip, but a good lesson was learned about current and tree's. A nice and easy scenic float to foxburg made a great start as we got to foxburg 10 minutes early.

After a great meal and walking around foxburg the group split up. Some paddle to take out while a good size group stopped at the confluence of the Alleghany and Clarion for some swimming and jumping off the bridge abutment.

After that it was a nice and easy float down to parker.

It was so nice to see so many new members come out for a great paddle and put faces with names. The real surprise for me was seeing two of our long time members.
Paul Issac made the float in his whitewater playboat, and got some nice pratice with cartwheels and rolls.
Matt Brady came up from Harrisonburg VA. He brought with him his paddling partner Rogue. Matt was our one paddleboarder and Rogue got a nice ride.

Matt is the only TCT member who lives in Virgina.

Again thank you to all who came and for letting me know if you weren't going to stop and swim.
GREAT TRIP!!

Agree with all of Mike's post. :35:

It was great trip. So much so the couple I brought along, Rob and Crystal want to do a camping trip somewhere along the river before it gets too cold. It'll probably be them and their two kids and me and my two kids so far. Anyone else interested in coming along?

Mike told me some names of campgrounds and such, but I have a horrible memory and can't remember them. So hopefully Mike, you might repeat them here if you would. And everyone else please list your favorite places to camp along the Allegheny. As well as start points and takeouts please. I'm not sure, but I think we'll be doing a one night stay.
