Mahoning River Chilly Chili Run- Canoe City
When- Sunday December 8th

Where-Canoe City Metro Park 107 N Leavitt RD, Leavittsburg OH 44430

GPS 41.241135, -80.881393

Time-11 AM
You know it is December when it is time for the umpteenth annual Chilly Chili Run.
Last chance for all you canoeist and kayakers "nuts” to get out for one last official trip before the end of the year.
We will gather at the CANOE CITY METROPARK starting around 11am and set up the area for our chili feast and get a fire going. After setup we will head up to Swift Metro park for the 3.6-mile flat water paddle to Canoe City for the chili and other goodies.
Members are always welcome to do a up and back from Canoe City if they don't want to do the shuttle.
If it is extremely cold like some past year them will do just an up and back for safety.
Hope to see a good turnout for a fun event.
We will have our fourth and final short meeting for 2019 after the paddle.

Ken and Cheryl are planning to come.... and eat.

BOBK 12-07-2019 09:21 AM

Lin B. and Bob K. plan on bringing a dessert and socializing. We are not able to paddle but would enjoy some conversation and chili. Is the plan to eat before and after the paddle or just after the paddle?

JPTolson 12-07-2019 10:36 AM

Hoping to make it...

Hoping to make it tomorrow, but won’t be bringing my canoe. Will bring a gallon of warm cider with mulling spice bags.

BOBK 12-07-2019 10:43 AM

Could it be that JP has finally seen the light and is bringing a kayak instead of the Chrysler Newport?

If anyone has a table that could be used to set the crock pots and food on, if you could bring it we would appreciate it.

Ha!
A few years ago we paddled to the takeout and there was no food left. Up and back for me.

mfdanko99 12-07-2019 03:20 PM

In the past we ha e always setup, paddle and eat after the paddle and before the meeting.

Bob Danko verified the porta john is at canoe city. Zach will turn the electric on for the outside plugs.

Although we didn't paddle we had a good time. It's always nice to have some time to get caught up with any news and share stories with other members.

Pictures? Report? How did it go?...... :)))))))))))))))))

SOS57 12-11-2019 12:41 AM

There will be pictures and a summary report. As always, our events are enjoyed by those attending. But......

THE ONLY WAY TO REALLY UNDERSTAND HOW THIS GOES IS SIMPLY TO BE THERE.

Best wishes to all of you out there and hope to see you at more of our outings.

Review

What another great Chilly Chili Paddle. Temps in the mid 40's and with a brisk wind.
We had a great turn out; We had a total of 35 members show up with 16 total paddlers. (13 Kayaks & 3 Canoes)
14 of paddlers made the trip from Thomas Swift Park to Canoe City while 2 did a nice up and back from Canoe City.
After the paddle we had a feast of food with all the trimmings. Several types of chilly, chips, pies, cookies & doughnuts. We had some nice warm cider and coffee and soda's to drink.
We had a nice short and easy meeting as we huddled around the warm fire.

Many thanks goes to Trumbull Metro Parks & Zack Szvett for allowing us to use Canoe City. Many thanks to Mahoning River Adventures for allowing us to use electric from there office.

Many thanks to all who came and brought stuff for our feast and fire wood

Procrastinators Christmas Party will be January 12th at Sunrise Inn in Warren, OH
12/12:30 to 4 pm.

Thanks again
Mike

PS will post pictures when I get a little more time
