This will be a new section of the Shenango River for the club. I scouted it by road and it look like a nice all flat river with very little strainers. As of today it has a nice current but it is up do to the recent rain. Coming from Youngstown on State Route 422 you will turn left on to Pulaski Rd. Go over the river and make left on to King Chapel Rd and you will se the Launch to your Left. Our Take out is on Rundle Rd right before a Railroad Bridge. GPS 40.968193, -80.370714 Total Mileage for this trip is 6 .6 miles long. |
Thanks Mike. Steve and I plan on being there.

I don't know all the factors in water management but the Army Corp of Engineers gives a three day prediction on outflows.
8/3/14 8/4/14 8/5/14 Shenango 1020 cfs 575 cfs 575 cfs Berlin 500 cfs 500 cfs 340 cfs Lake Milton 580 cfs 580 cfs 340 cfs Sunday's outflow will be similar to Saturday's down from Friday's. I hope this info is useful although it is short notice. Also enjoy the trip I would like to do this section as I've yet to see it. |
On Sunday the 3rd we had a great paddle down the Shenango River From the Millennium Boat Launch to Rundle Rd. This 6.6 mile paddle had a nice current some nice flat water and a couple ripples to make it fun.
We had to deal with some rain for part of the trip but it didn't stop us. We had 9 totals boats, 7 Kayakers, Jessica Hoffart, Bob Danko, Steve Preston, Linda, Laura, Paul Issac & Rich. Then Ron Ellis and I paddles Canoes. Found a Nice little rapid that next year we can hold a throw rope safety class at and can go over how to control your kayak in a rapid. We had on flip at that spot as Jess was praticing how to catch an eddie. Afterwards we all went to dinner at a On the Hill Restraunt right by the take out. Great choice Paul! Thank you to all who came and paddle this new section for us. Mike Danko New Castle Water Gauge was 7.8 ft We did the paddle under 3 hours |
