Mahoning River Chilly Chili Paddle- Canoe City

When- Sunday December 10th

Where-Canoe City Metro Park 107 N Leavitt RD, Leavittsburg OH 44430

Time-11 AM

You know it is December when it is time for the umpteenth annual Chilly Chili Run.

Last chance for all you canoeists and kayakers "nuts” to get out for one last official trip before the end of the year.

We will gather at the CANOE CITY METROPARK starting around 11am and set up the area for our chili feast and get a fire going. Please bring your own style chili or side dishes for the feast after the paddle. After setting up we will hit the water and do a nice up and back paddle from Canoe City

Members are always welcome to do a shuttle and paddle down from Swift Park to Canoe City for a 3.6 mile paddle.

After the paddle we can feast and enjoy great company and will have our fourth meeting for the year.
Hope to see a good turn out for a fun event.

I got the port-a-john ordered and paid for.

The weather isn't looking to good, rain and windy :(

K & C rsvp = yes

We've had all kind of weather for this event... from just shirts to 4" of snow. I think we've had wet and muddy, but maybe not rain. The forecast is apt to change in the next 4-5 days.

K & C are planning to be there (to keep the food safe!). We will bring rain gear. And most likely some veggy chili. (and maybe a tarp w/ropes)

I remember many years ago Stan and friends set up a large shelter using the building as a wind and rain blocker. We had tables inside and it made for a great get together. Nothing stops the Chilly Chili Paddle.

Pinky and I will be there. Will bring two 10x10 pop ups, wood and chili. Pinky will have the treasure's report.

Planning to be there

I will bring a gallon of hot cider with mulling spice bags (like tea bags). Look forward to seeing everyone.

Mark & Jodi plan to be there, will try to bring a canopy or two if I can get to them in our storage unit, I also plan to bring the hoagies that I usually bring. Don't know if I will paddle.

Another Great Day on the River!

The foreboding weather forecast two days earlier never materialized. So six club members enjoyed a 3+ mile up and back paddle starting at Canoe City Metropark on the Mahoning and going as far as a half mile upstream in Eagle Creek before turning around. The sky was cloudy and the temperature was in the low 40s but really wasn't bad since there was little if any wind. The dozen folks who stayed behind around the fire left the paddlers plenty of the five or six different chilis to eat after we returned. It was another great day on the river! Here's a group shot of the paddlers.

Left to right: Stan, Mike, Minnie, JP, Santa (aka Tom S) and Jim
