Sunday 3-8-20

On Sunday bruce & Diane and myself will be paddling raccoon creek.
This isn't a beginner creek, plus we have no idea if it clear or if we will be Portaging alot.

Raccoon is a fun river with some class II and I rapids. Bruce really loves this creek and I am looking forward to my second time on this creek
Anyone is welcome to join.

Back up if water is to low is the connoquessing creek

All information pertaining to this trip will be posted on Saturday. Raccoon Creek (in PA) is the preferred trip. If this creek does not hold level, we will do the upper Connoquenessing Creek. We plan on posting information Saturday afternoon or early evening.

For those without a Garman

Take I-376 East

This is a cold water trip with possible portaging. Please dress with the proper clothing. NO COTTON CLOTHING. If you do not have a wet or dry Suit. Please bring an extra set of dry clothing.

You may also want to bring a snack, we will try to find a spot to stretch, snack and nature calls.

Please post on this site if you are going and have not communicated with Mike Danko or myself.

You must check this site before leaving in the event of a sudden drop in level or a change in plans

I predict the level of the water for this trip will be between 2.36 & 2.33 ft. This will require some reading of the water at times to pick the proper water path for your boat to travel.

If there are any problems with the level for this trip, I will post information before 9:00 AM tomorrow for the Connoquenessing Creek. I will only post if there is a change.

We can shuttle for you

We can shuttle for you. Raccoon creek is only a few miles from our house. Mark is on call tomorrow so he can’t paddle. I’m worried about downed trees and getting in and out as there has been some flooding on this creek throughout fall and winter. I can be there to help also.

I checked my notebook
My first time on raccoon creek was 3-30-15

Notes, say nice level and no scrapping

Thanks Mike. We will be above that tomorrow.

We had a great day on Raccoon Creek. The water level held, it was 2.47 ft when we start and 2.49 ft when we finished. The weather was great and there were no strainers. We had a total of 8 people. There were 2 canoes and 5 Kayaks. Putting our boats in and out of the creek required teamwork and everyone helped out. We saw 1 deer and several ducks. The shuttle went well and we all would like to thank Mark and Kathy Murtha for helping and providing the transportation back to the put-in. After the trip we all went to Bowsers and had a great meal and talked about past and future trips with the club. I would like to take everyone that participated in the trip, Dianne and I had a great time with great people.
