Grand River Pasta Paddle

Grand River from Hidden Valley Park in Madison twp. to Mason's Landing in Perry twp. on 8 May 2010. After the Run we will be returning to my house at 4918 Klasen Rd, (200yds from the start), for spaghetti and Garlic Bread. If you wish to bring a side, salad or desert, your efforts will be applauded. A campfire is also planned, so everyone is invited to pitch a tent as well...

This section of the Grand is pretty tame, with only class 1 riffles to contend with, and long slow scenic stretches. At 11.4 miles, and normal flow between 1' - 3' an estimated four plus hours on the water will be needed. If water levels are insuffiecient, an alternate paddle above the Harpersfield Dam is possible. I'm hoping for the assistance of other members bringing their trailers along with my six place, to limit the shuttling of vehicles to a minimum.

You may see Trumbull Canoe Trails Map link for the Location of Hidden Valley Park, or map quest my address. You can reach me at: (440) 228-3261 or Email me at: bikesavvy@hotmail.com Hope to see you there! Rich Klasen

Pasta paddle

Because of the distance most will have to travel to get here, an 11:00 start time would be about the earliest possible. Today, the water is up to 4 feet above normal level's, but could drop to 1.5 by this Sunday the 2nd. I will keep everyone informed next week as to conditions. At this point, all I can really count on is the sauce...

Pasta Paddle update

Water Levels are low, but still navigable. Rain is expected late week, will update Friday pm for final go or no go, on lower stretches of the Grand. An alternate paddle above the dam is always an option for low water levels below. Looking forward to seeing everyone.

Rain good, Thunderboomers bad! I'll be there.

Hoping to make it...

At least if you're going to be paddling down the river, I probably won't make the trip if you're going above the dam.

Windy...

Just wanted to let you know -- I won't be joining you tomorrow. Forecast is for sustained headwinds over 20 MPH. Maybe you kayakers can handle that, but in a canoe I'd be toast.

Maybe next time!

Pasta Paddle Rescheduled

Due to the hazards involved with a major spring storm; exposure to the cold, Wind gusts to 55mph, Rain and possibly hail. The pasta paddle will not be held tommorow, Saturday 8th. With the go ahead from our fearless leader, would like to reschedule to next Saturday afternoon at 1:00 pm, 15 May 2010. Not a weenie, but there is a definite safety concern when paddling in near hurricane conditions, not to mention the "no fun" factor and some of you will have to travel a considerable distance.
With regrets

Rich

Why can't it storm during the week. Damn you weather.....

Rich ,

I can't 100% commit for the 15th . However , if all goes well , I'll give you a heads up so you'll have a head count.

Your decission for the cancelation shows your a responcible trip leader .

Gonzo
