1-21 weekend

I sure Hope some of the club gets out this weekend.
I normally would do a paddle but I can't as I had surgery Wednesday for a tooth.:49:

I know Paul Issac is doing East Sandy Creek or another one out that way.

Hope everyone is safe and have fun

Lin and I did get in a paddle. We weren't able to hit any local rivers, so just did a nice relaxing paddle on Lake Newport...a spur of the moment thing.

Dianne and I did a very nice paddle on the Connie today. I hope some other members had a chance to get out.

Darn, I knew I should have called Paul.

Instead I went down to Beaver Creek at the group camp and carried the boat upstream a bit for some surfing on the wave up there. Level was just above 1200 cfs, and that wave was as big and bouncy as I can remember it. Had a great time, even brought the GoPro & put up some video on youtube.

I didn't make East Sandy Creek yet but it is on the radar! Instead I got together with Bill Hofman and a couple other paddlers and did the Big Neshannock. We paddled the gorge and continued into New Castle. The trip was not without incident as at the most critical moment in the most difficult rapid in the gorge one of the party had their breakdown paddle come apart. Needless to say this resulted in a swim. The problem now is to retrieve half a paddle, which I suspect is pinned on a rock underwater. I paddled the gorge 5 times Sunday but was unable to find it. I will wait a couple days and try again in low water. I got much better chances then because if it remains under water the water will be clear and it may be visible. On the other hand the change in current may dislodge the paddle and it most likely will find a strainer or Eddy out.
