Good call
Good choice on the cancellation. It's hard to say what kind of strainers may have been flushed into river after such a high level. It's never a good time to discover them when the river is moving...

Hurricane Tempest 130 ??
Hurricane Tampico 130 maybe? This is a nice kayak. The lines and chines look like it would be a good handling kayak. I like to carve curves and maneuver around. I'd...

K & C rsvp = yes
We've had all kind of weather for this event... from just shirts to 4" of snow. I think we've had wet and muddy, but maybe not rain. The forecast is apt to change in the next 4-5 days.
K & C...

Nice Up and Back Paddle
What a nice day for a paddle. A bit cool at 50° but sunny and no wind. Can't beat that for mid-November! I thought we had a pretty good turnout with 4 canoes and 5 kayaks... 10 paddlers total. We...

Anyone know if there is a potty there? Just wondering... it's an hour and a half ride for us. There's never been one there in past years.

Nice Paddle
K & C enjoyed this paddle. A nice cool fall day. I was impressed with how clear the river was in this stretch. We could see the bottom at 3-4 ft depth.
There was a bit of an occasional light...

1.72 ft at noon Friday
River is dropping .02" to .03" per day.
You ---might--- make it above 1.60 ft yet by Sunday.
Unfortunately, the 2 1/2 hour drive will keep K & C from attending.
I've done this twice. Once at...

6.5 to 6.9 ft range.
There were several high water spikes between 2014 & 2023. All were in the range of 6.5 to 6.9 ft. Maybe all the gates were opened?
This would still qualify as a raging river in my book. ...
