Default Thanks, Mike!

Many thanks to trip leader Mike Danko for leading and managing a very large group of paddlers (50???) on the annual Foxburg Run. Organizing such a sizable contingent is not easy and Mike's efforts are very much appreciated. A few other groups vying for parking and boat space at the put in made the job a little more challenging. The US Geological Survey gage at Parker read about 2.5 ft.

We shoved off at the Emlenton put in around noon on a gorgeous summer day and made it to the Foxburg Inn at the appointed hour of 1:00 to enjoy lunch. A brief shower fell while we were inside the restaurant, but the skies cleared just as we finished our meals. Lots of wildflowers lined the banks as paddlers made their way to the mouth of the Clarion for the annual TCT version of cliff jumping.

The usual stop at the Clarion attracted lots of jumpers off the trestle abutment into the swift current, especially the many kids on the trip. A number of the older paddlers also enjoyed leaping off the cement wall, trying to be kids again. (As far as we know, no injuries were reported!) The more sensible adults enjoyed immersing themselves in the river along the shoreline.

By this point the paddlers were pretty spread out as some headed at different times to the take out while others remained to enjoy final jumps or to linger in the shallows by the shore. Most paddlers were off the water at the Parker take out by 5. It was another great day on the river, and thanks again, Mike!
