At this point, the biggest concern may be the weather. If it rains, they will not do the fireworks show after the game, if the game even gets played.

Aside from weather, you must have your kayak / canoe illuminated. I would suggest glow sticks (front, back, and both sides). Probably best to also have a good headlamp and whistle handy. Some of the trip back up river will be in an area that does not get illuminated by the light of the city.

I would urge everyone to wear and fasten PFDs. During our PGH float last year, we encountered a kayaker who had been flipped out of his boat by the wake of a passing pleasure boat. Most of the shoreline is vertical walls, not allowing for easy beaching for recovery should you roll.

Keep checking back for updates. I will keep an eye on the weather. If it is questionable, there are other fireworks nights on the Pirates schedule.
