Default Trip Report for Deer Creek Reservoir Sunday, Nov 8, 2015

Trip Report for Deer Creek Reservoir Sunday, Nov 8, 2015

For November, we had a very nice day to paddle. It was cool with temp around 50 degree but the sun was out and with only a very slight breeze the lake was mostly smooth water. The group was eight paddlers (seven boats)....Tim, Joel, Betka, Ron, Jessica, Mike, Ken and Cheryl. We paddled to the west end of the lake and through the deep stone tunnels under the railroad and SR 183. This is always a fun spot with opportunity for some interesting photos. Circling back toward the launch, some of the group headed in and some continued on to the dam where you can look down far below the spillway and see the south end of Berlin Lake. With Berlin Lake now drained for winter you can see Deer Creek again as it makes it's way down to the Mahoning River. We then paddled a short way into what I call the "heron's foot" (three long skinny fingers of the lake) before heading back to the boat ramp. Half the group covered about 4 miles and the rest of us covered a bit over 5 miles. After loading up, a few of us stopped at the Circle Restaurant in Deerfield for dinner and so ended another pleastant day of paddling.

I added a few photos.
