This trip is typically flat water. This should be considered a cold water / cold weather paddle. Also, there is always the possibility of the need to portage around a downed tree.

Cold Precautions: do not wear cotton, synthetic layers are more appropriate, possibly paddle pants / jacket if you have them, at minimum you should have a dry bag packed with a change of clothes and wear & fasten a PFD. Probably good to have yet another change of clothes in your car.

Portage precautions: sturdy foot wear and a short (10') section of rope
