Recreational Dam Release 7/21/12
The Mahoning Dam on the Mahoning Creek, east side of Pittsburgh is having a release on saturday July 21. This is the nicest II creek I ever been on. Nothing scarry but it drops very nice, not much development just trees and laurel. I did it with Paul this spring at 420 cfs and was impressed and they are saying 600 cfs release. picture the Little Beaver if it had more gradient. This should not be missed. This run would be suitable for open canoes and kayaks an advanced beginner run, you will probably have to bail. I going to give up a trophy at kayak race for this, it is that good.
