Hello, Saturday July 23rd we will be paddling from President, PA(river mile marker 52) to Oil City, PA(river mile marker 67). This is a nice section of the Allegheny River because Route 62 does not follow the river here so it is more secluded and quiet. We will meet at the launch at President at 10am. This launch is maintained by a church and asks for a donation to use the launch. We will take at collection to donate. Do not let this deter anyone form coming. Once the boats are unloaded we will shuttle to Oil City. We will try to get as many cars to Oil City as we can so we do not leave to many at the church. This trip will be around 14 miles of beautiful scenery. We will paddle roughly 6 miles before stoping on an island for a snack and a break. This island is across from Walnut Bend. This is the second island here and is said to have a pavilion in the middle but I have not found it. Once back on the water at around river mile marker 61 keep your eyes on river left for Monkey Rock. This outcropping looks cool to see. I have paddled past it twice without noticing it. Finally right before the take out we will have a little bit of fun running through the Oil City Rapids. The take out will be river left. Hope to see you on this trip.
