Default Wilderness Tarpon

Just an interesting fact about my Tarpon 120 SOT. I bought this 2017 kayak new. I have put a few miles on it since then. I love most things about it except 2. It does weigh 74# which is a lot compared to most of the kayaks in our club. The other detail is that since it was new the seat did not drain out after I filled the boat with water( it's a SOT and though it will fill the cockpit as I play, it runs right back out through the scuppers.)

I have brought this to the attention of the good folks at ORE where I bought it and Wilderness itself. I could never get a solution.

Today I found the cause. I pulled the seat while cleaning. First time I have unbolted it and actually removed it. Guess what I found. The friendly folks at Wilderness provided me with 2 free scupper plugs. They were neatly pressed into the 2 scupper tubes under the seat, out of reach and out of sight. Removing them seems to have solved a five year old problem.
