Club Picnic & Meeting July 8th
Hi everybody !
Our club picnic and summer meeting will be at Canoe City Park in Leavittsburg on July 8th. I'll say we gather starting around 11am, and I'll fire up the grill about noon. We can eat soon after that. After lunch our Prez will hold a meeting. After several hours of club business ( or is that several minutes) we can load up an head to Swift Park for a float back to Canoe City and eat the rest of the food! Speaking of food, the Club will provide hamburgers, hotdogs, buns, and condiments ( lettuce, tomato, cheese, mustard ,ketchup). I will provide Iced tea and cups. You guys can bring something to share. We always eat good at this run!! Jim is going to set up a contest to challenge our throw rope skills, so it sounds like a full fun day. Please let me know if you are attending by Friday the 6th. I'll need to run out on Saturday to buy the burgers. Post here, or eartt16@aol.com or 330-568-1619 See you there, Ed

Paddle strokes
Jim , I love that idea, and also that day Ron is going to go over basic paddle strokes and safety with the club.
Ron also is going to go over throw bags as well so that fits in perfect. I do believe Ron would like us in the water in front of canoe city to practice his instructions before the run to Swift Park. Ron is a former river guide at Ohio Pyle and out west. He is full of knowledge and wants to help every one have a better stroke, that can make paddling easier and more enjoy able. I can say Ron has helped me in many was with my strokes and it truly makes a different. Mike |

Mahoning River update
I had the day off so I decided to take the kids for a ride. We went from Canoe City up, in my 12 ft aluminum. It is still clear to Swift park. The large log jam farther up between Swift and Rotary park is still passable as well.

Hats off to Ed for a great day. And what a good cook he is, thanks again ED
Jim, That contast was ablast and gave me an idea how to throw the throw bag. Congrads to Ed for winning the 15 dollar gas card. By my count we had over thirty five members show up and 27 boats hit the water for a paddle up the Mahoning. Like Rich Allan said what a difference in July than December at the Chilli run. Of the 27 boats we had three members go up to Swift Park and come down. Bob Danko, Jason Malloy and Debra and crash. Great day; great turn out. This is one of many reason why I love this club Mike Danko ps Will post pictures when I get a break from work |
