French Creek 2015
French Creek ? Utica Pa to Franklin Pa, Trip Leader Ed Rigby
When- May 3rd Where- 305 Elk St Franklin, PA 16323 GPS 41.380505, -79.820375 Time ? 10 AM Hi Everybody! Let's do a run on French Creek from Utica to Franklin on May 3.Everybody should be at the Franklin Fish and Boat Com. Boat launch area by 10am. We will figure out the shuttle up to Utica and try to take as few vehicles as possible, leaving about 10:15. French Creek is an scenic flat water run of about 11miles with one fun ledge/rapid near the end. Pack a lunch and we'll stop there and play and eat. The Franklin boat launch is on Elk St (follow 322E thru Franklin and make a right on Elk. If you cross the river, you went too far!) Minimum level for this run is 2ft at the Utica gauge. Not sure about the Max. But as always, keep an eye on our web site closer to the run for any updates. Ed |

Me and Si are looking forward to it. It will be his first trip on French Creek. If not too much we are considering an after run from franklin to fisherman's cove.

from Ken
Planning to be there. One kayak. Unfortunately Cheryl can't come. She has a foot in cast with stress fracture.
Looks like a near perfect day to be on the water. Ken Mozden |

Many Thanks goes to Ed Rigby for leading a great trip down French Creek, and doing a great job with the shuttle!!
We had 18 paddlers & 1 doggy in 14 boats (9 kayaks, 1 two person kayak,4 canoes). Jessica, Tori, & Myself went for a swim after lunch as we flip the canoe as we got to close to a tree branch. Thank you to Ed, Bruce, Dianne, Kathey & Mark for helping us recover from flipping. A HUGE THANK YOU to Ken M for finding my glasses as a floated down river!!! I am still in shock my glasses came off with the strap on. A great trip, very senic and pretty. USGS gauge was 3.2 ft with a nice current. We saw two bald eagles and a couple of musk rats. French Creek is a sping time classic river that makes a great day trip!! Great Trip Mike Danko Last edited by mfdanko99; 05-04-2015 at 07:12 AM. |
