Headwaters park with just pants and a sweatshirt but was ill prepared for the white caps on the lake from all the wind. Was a tough paddle and if I didn't hike prior I would have worn my shorty wetsuit.

Allegheny National Forest
Paddled Spring Creek in PA, a trib of Clarion River, in January. Had wet suit and semi-dry top, neoprene gloves & boots, etc.
Mild solo trip, with one stand out moment. On shore to look at a strainer, and making my way down the bank under the trees, and a big widow maker fell on my head, drove me straight into the ground. If I hadn't still had my helmet on, I think I would have been in serious trouble. Did get a concussion though, and felt the effects for a couple of weeks. Steve Z |
