Just got a new video loaded from a 2019 Beaver Creek trip with major carnage on it.

This is the event that helped fuel a great discussion/demonstration at the camp fire at Buckaloons Camping trip

I can see where it looks like the paddle blade caught air and not water on the attempt at a cross bow draw because of the trough below the wave that the boat was riding. No wonder you felt helpless! It’s hard to say and easy to second guess since I wasn’t there but at that point I think I would have tried to turn slightly left, lean right, and pry on the right as hard as possible to try to avoid the rock. But it may not have worked, because the water looked pushy and it didn’t seem like there was enough time to do all of that. Really glad that you didn’t get hurt. Thanks for sharing the video, Mike.

I was inside of the canoe as it was flipped.
I was unable to get out of it as I was being dragged down river.
I was able to get air in a pocket of air in the canoe.
Once it slowed down I was able to swim out of the canoe.
All I could think about was Ron yelling at to stay calm, and relax.
Once I relaxed I was about to get out of the canoe.

It was a crazy ride, and put some fear in me, but it was a great learning experience
