Hello, July 12,13 & 14 was our club camping, training, paddling, and picnic weekend. The weekend started off with Stan, Burt and I setting up camp at the Cochranton Fairgrounds. We then dropped off my car and trailer at Shaw’s Landing and went to the launch in Meadville at Wilson Chutes rd. We had 3 three of us in 2 canoes and 1 kayak paddle this beautiful 4.63 mile section. We saw over a dozen bald eagles and many other wild life. At the take out we loaded on my trailer and headed to Hoss’s Steak house in Meadville for dinner. Then back to camp for a nice nights rest. Saturday Burt and I went to breakfast at Kay’s Cardinal Country restaurant. Then back at camp we set up for the training class. I staged 3 tandem canoes at the river for the throw rope on water training and Mark and Rich did a great job with the Class part of the training. We had 16 class members. After the Class section we practiced throwing the ropes on land before moving to the water. Everyone that attended learned a lot. We then headed to the park for a great picnic and club meeting. We then headed to Shaw’s Landing for a 3.37 mile paddle. We had 10 paddlers in 5 kayaks and 3 canoes. We did get caught in some rain but that did not stop the girls and I from having fun on the rope swing. Saturday found only Stan, Burt and I as the only campers yet again. Sunday morning we woke and cooked a nice breakfast at camp. We then moved my car and trailer to the take out in Utica. We met everyone at the put in at the Cochranton ramp. After everyone unloaded we moved their cars to camp and pushed of. We where on the water at 10:06. I have never had a meet up time at 10 where we were paddling in 6 minutes. lol. We had 7 paddlers in 4 canoes and 3 kayaks. This was a beautiful paddle with good water and nice scenery. It turned out to be 8.8 miles. We then loaded everyone’s boats on my trailer and shuttled back to the fairgrounds where everyone transferred their boats to their cars. We then broke camp and headed home. It was a fantastic weekend. I do wish we had a better turn out but I sure had fun. Thanks to everyone that made it possible. Dustin

Great training and it was a good practice to get to throw rope on the water.
That is a great rapid by the camp Thank you to Dustin for all his hard work. Great picnic and a easy meeting that had several good discussions about future events. Great job Dustin Mike
