Lighting Bug Paddle
28 9-11PM
Some of you may know that Mill Creek Metro Parks has a fleet of kayaks we use with the public. We need to charge a fee to cover rental and staff time. A few times a year I schedule no-charge BYOKs (Bring Your Own Kayak) paddles. Anyone is welcome! The year before last, quite a few TCT members attended and were impressed the "Tinker Bell Convention" of fireflies. My description from Park publications: Friday, June 28 9 ?11 pm BYOK: Looking? for Lightning Bugs EXPERIENCED kayakers are invited to bring their own boats. FREE, but call Ford Nature Center (330.740.7107) to register by 5 pm. June 28. Please bring a light! Meet at East Newport Boat Launch (Lake Newport). Total of 8 boats with 10 paddlers enjoyed a great night as the lighten bugs were out for a show. We paddled threw the island channel up mill creek and back to the east dock. Paddle time was around 2 hrs with great weather and partly clear skies. Thank you Ray for the invitation to join you.
