Default Conemaugh Sojourn registration is now open

Hello all:

Registration is now open for the 2024 Conemaugh/Kiski Sojourn scheduled for June 6-9, 2024. The registration link to the Conemaugh Conservancy Page is: https://conemaughvalleyconservancy.c...-sojourn-2024/
Registration is open to the first 50 participants per day. I would recommend registering as early as possible as this can fill up; Especially for Saturday.

You can do all four days or pick and choose which days you wish to paddle. Cost per day is $40.00 for Conservancy members and $45.00 for non-members. Also Saturday has a special Kids Day with a $10.00 rate for children 14 and under. I heartily recommend joining the conservancy as they do an great job remediating and conserving this extensive watershed.

I realize that the fee to paddle all days may deter a number of you from thinking about this trip. Please be aware that fees for other Pennsylvania sojourns are now running $100+ per day.

Your cost per day covers:
Meals (Lunch and Dinner Thursday; Lunch and Dinner Friday; Breakfast and
Dinner Saturday; and Breakfast and Lunch Sunday.)
Breakfasts are fairly light as is lunch on Friday; however the other
meals are very full and satisfying. We stop for lunch at the Saltsburg
Canal Days Festival on Saturday so you can have your fill of all the
fair food you want. For that one you're on your own.
Shuttle Bus return- We organize our shuttle between launches and takeouts
and there is a bus available to return those shuttling to the launch
site.
Camping-There are nice camp sites arranged for Thursday, Friday and
Saturday evenings. Bring your favorite camping equipment for
tenting, car or light RV. There are shower facilities at some of the
campsites. Anyone who wishes may feel free to pitch a tent at our
place as we are not that far away. There are also some nice hotels
in the area of the sojourn if one doesn't want to rough it. Those are
referenced in the CVC posting.

The waterways we are traveling are some of the most scenic and historic in West Central Pa. We follow the course of the Great Johnstown Flood on Thursday.
Depending on the water level, the runs at Finlay and Packsaddle Gap are anywhere from Class 1 to Class 2. None are too challenging for this group. There are guides where needed for those who need them.
The last two days are mostly flat water with a few riffles -- great for canoes.

As for safety; there are designated safety boaters with advanced first aid and rescue training, lead, center, and sweep guides and a morning safety and situation briefing. We all look out for one another. Especially the novice boaters; of which there are usually a good number.

Judy and I hope to see as many of you as possible on this fun and exciting sojourn. Please let us know if you are attending. If you have any questions do not hesitate to call us at 724-238-6859 (H) or 724-396-8628 (C)

Respectfully, Jeff G.
