Time 10am at Niles Launch to drop off boats and set up for shuttle. ( I will be there no later than 9 am)
( I will not be leading this shuttle! I will be staying at the launch to make sure everyone has signed our waiver. At this time I believe Don Rex will lead the shuttle. I will try to remember to have maps with directions to help.

Co-sponsored by. The Friends of the Mahoning River and the Trumbull Canoe Trails
You?re invited to join us?on Sunday June 4th.
PFD?s (Life Vests) are required!
1) Staging - We?ll meet in Niles at 10 AM to drop-off the canoes/kayaks?across from downtown Niles, on the South side of the Rt. 46. bridge, the just east of the bridge. Parking could be an issue, so park away from the ramp.
From Rt. 46 turn onto. East 2nd. St., then left on Brown St., to and across East 1st. St. Go behind the stored telephone poles.
There?s a ramp down to the river (see purple pin).
Registration/waivers, and boat drop-offs will be conducted by our partner, the Trumbull Canoe Trails, who will also lead the paddle.
2) We?ll drive to Girard to leave our vehicles near the end of the paddle.
You can park along Marshall Rd. that runs directly to the river. It should be OK but it?s unprotected. Girard Police will patrol the area.
You can also park on W. Liberty St. (t on bridge) or in the city parking lot on N. Market St, across from City Hall in Girard.
If in the City lot?at the end, you?ll then need to be taken to your can and drive back to the river to pick-up your canoe or kayak.
3) We?ll then shuttle everyone back to the Niles launch site in vans.
Along the paddle we?ll see:
Where Mosquito Creek enters the Mahoning,
The Trumbull bikeway bridge across the river,
The now-unused Niles power plant,
The new McDonald-to-Niles bridge,
McDonald Steel (back of)
Where Girard?s Squaw Creek enters the Mahoning,
The Girard Dam - our take-out
The paddle will take 2-3 hrs. It should be an easy, scenic paddle?no dams, rapids or hazardous areas.

The Girard take-out is where Marshall Rd. enters the river. (One at a time)

An enjoyable option following the paddle is to meet for lunch at the Amen Corner bar/restaurant at 20 W. Main St. in Girard?walking distance from the N. Market St. city parking lot. It?s a very casual place. see below
Reservations are required?to me,
Don Rex, at drx44420@gmail.com or 330-219-2459.

I want to say Thank you Don for all his help with both clubs!!
