Default Newport in November

November 3

BYOK: Newport Finale

Saturday, 2 ? 4 pm

We are again partnering with Trumbull Canoe Trails for the season's last paddle on Lake Newport. Participants must be 18 years old and will be required to complete a waiver. Trip is weather dependent. Free, but call Ford Nature Center (330.740.7107) to register by Noon, November 3. Meet at East Newport Boat Launch.

Above is my description in the MetroParks' program calendar. I've hosted this paddle for a number of years, and included the club the last few. So far, we've been treated to good weather and wildlife. Fingers crossed that "Sandy" will be long gone by Saturday!

To all of the many "early birds" in the club: I schedule this in the afternoon bc that's probably when it's the warmest!

Only heard from one person (Peppy!!!). If anyone else is attending, please prepare for the wintry weather. I think the Lake itself will be OK, but we'll have to see what the current is like going upcreek.

Default Lake Newport

Many thanks to Ray for a great day on Lake Newport. The wildlife was out in abundance which made up for the crappy weather. We saw, Canada geese, mallards, deer, blue herons, hawks, kingfishers, a cormorant and a bald eagle. We also saw the sun after we were done. It was a great day for two wildlife lovers like us.
