We had six paddlers on the Yough today, with a gauge of 3.5 at Sutersville. I don't think we saw much more than a foot-and-a-half of depth for most of the trip. Cedar Creek Park is a nice park with pavilions, restrooms, playgrounds, and a boat ramp with adequate parking. There were a handful of boat trailers in the lot when we arrived. We lunched at West Newton, where we pulled off to a clearing along the shoreline, just before the bridge. We climbed a short, well used, although rough foot path up to street level. We enjoyed lunch at The Trailside Restaurant, so named as it is located immediately adjacent to the Great Allegheny Passage bicycle trail. After lunch we paddled into a slight head wind, with a subtle current on our way to Sutersville. This was a flat water trip from start to finish, with a few riffles. Sutersville also had a decent concrete ramp, however parking was more limited, and there were no facilities. It seems the two outfitters down that way may have gone out-of-business, and thats a real shame. While the Yough is famous for the white water at Ohiopyle, it is also a great flat water stream further down river.
