Default Walk along West Branch Little Beaver 2-11-24

K & C were out for a walk Sunday Feb 11, 2024. We were exploring Hellbender Bluff (Columbiana) County Park just east of West Point, Oh. There are trails that go down to the West Branch of Little Beaver. It was a cool but sunny and pleasant day. I did not realize how far down in a gorge this section of river flows. Very scenic! I felt I should be paddling. Alas, there was a good flow of water but it was low. It would have been exceedingly hard to find the channels. Probably doable...BUT it would have been a bumpy ride (or walk). ---KenM

I believe 4.0 feet on the Grimm’s Bridge US Geological Survey gage is considered paddling zero for this section of the West Fork of Beaver Creek. But the gage is so far downstream on the main stem that paddlers may want to get a couple visual readings before committing to run the West Fork even when the gage says 4.0 feet.
