Default Roll Session Review

On a chilly Sunday we adventured to Warren G Harding High School to use the swimming pool to practice rolling a whitewater kayak.
Total of 13 showed up. Ron, Judy, Mark & Jodi V, Paul Issac, Steve & Chuck(In from Chicago) Lukco, Tim, Steve Preston, Nathan, John Paul, Jessica and myself.

A big thanks must go to Ron Ells for taking his time and working with everyone one on one. Also a big thanks goes to Mark V & Steve for helping Ron with controlling the kayaks when we were side ways and under water.

Thanks must go to Ron & Paul for bring extra whitewater kayaks for everyone to try.
Also to Jodi V for taking the time to get some pictures and getting some laughs watching us.

A Big Thanks must also go to Steve Lukco (Harding Swim Team Coach) for the use of the swimming pool.

I must say it is still odd to see JP in a kayak, but not just a regular kayak, but a Whitewater play boat.

After the pool session some of us adventured over to Sunrise inn for a good meal.

Thanks to all who came and helped make the first ever TCT whitewater kayak roll session a success.

Mike Danko

I second all of Mike's thanks to everyone who helped organize and conduct the rolling session. I also salute Mike for adding an event to the schedule that goes well beyond the club's paddling traditions. It was great to have an opportunity to learn and practice a new skill in a warm and clean environment. In my view, it's a real measure of club growth and vitality to expand our paddling horizons with a session like this.

Thumbs up Thanks

Thanks for the fun and instructive event. It is great that people like Ron and others with extensive experience are willing to share it with TCT members (especially new members like myself). I look forward to the next event and to getting outside on the water soon.
