Default Club Picnic

Hi Everybody!
The club is holding it's annual picnic on Sunday, July 12th at a new venue this year, the Chestnut Run Swim Beach on Shenango Lake. We will have use of the pavilion IF we are the first ones there. It's on a first come ,first served basis, no reservations are taken for this one according to the A.C.E. office at the dam. So I'm going to have a 10am start time. We'll organize an early paddle, say about 11, then come back for lunch and a meeting.
Club will provide hamburgers, hot dogs, buns and toppings, and you guys can bring something to share. I'll bring some lemonade but you might want bring something to drink. If you have any outdoor games please bring them (anybody got Jarts).
General directions to Chestnut Run are north on Rt.18 in Pa. over Shenango Lake. Just past the lake take a left on West Lake road. Take west Lake until it ends at Rt846. Make a left and the picnic area will be on the left a little way down. (consult your GPS for best directions for you).
Try to let me know if you are coming by July10th. E-mail me or put something here.
See ya there!!

Default Picnic alert

The Chestnut Run swim area is CLOSED because of water quality issues. We can't even use it for a picnic, the gates are locked. I don't know if it will be better by next week, so keep an eye on this space to see if we have a change of venue or a change of date.
I'll check Canoe City to see if it's useable. Any other last minute suggestions ?
Ed

Default Picnic at Canoe City

The picnic will be moved to Canoe City in Levettsburg due to water quality issues on Shenango Lake. I'll move the starting time back an hour to 11am. Hoping for a good turnout so get the word out about the change.
See you next Sunday.
Ed

Default picnic and paddle?

Are you planning a paddle also? Or is it flooded there too? Good grief...even our frogs are complaining about too much rain!

Default Looks Good

Looks like the picnic will be a go. The next couple of day are going to be dry and the river should come down a bit. Might be a bit soggy in the park, but we'll be ok. We'll have the paddle from Swift Park down to Canoe City, but I'm not sure if it will be before or after lunch. We'll make a game day decision.
Other good news; Friends of the Mahoning will pick up part of the food tab in the way of a $50 gift card to Giant Eagle for our help with the River Fest !! Thanks a lot Friend of the Mahoning !!
