Mike, I'll be there at 10:30 to help set up. Last year I spent the day at the table telling people about the group and signing up people to take the canoe ride. I'm looking forward to helping out again. Chris

Default Great job!

I brought my two kids and my son's friend down today, and just wanted to say that the volunteers all did a fantastic job! I know it's hard to pull things like this off, and it seemed like it went so smoothly. We were in line with several people who had never been in a canoe before, and they were all so excited. It's such a nice event for the community.

TCT members seemed to enjoy staffing the club tent, helping people in and out of boats, and providing canoe and kayak rides for visitors to Mahoning Riverfest. I know I got a lot out of the experience, especially when hearing a number of people talk about living in the area their entire lives, but never being on the river until their canoe or kayak rides today. The club did a real public service by participating in this event.

Talking Thank you

Thank you to all members who came and helped today. I was a nervous wreck about being short handed.
Boy was I wrong. Everyone pulled together with a great turn out.
We have Five Canoes (John Paul, Ed Rigby, Ron Ells, Joel Beeghly & myself )
In canoe's giving rides. Then Bob Danko and Joel Switched from Canoe to Dock worker.
We had a new member (president of the Warren Ski club, can't remember his name) Paddle Chucks two man kayak.
We had Mary K and Jessica escorting people in kayaks supplied Sue H and myself.

Our Dock workers also deserve a big thank you. Bob Danko, Bob K, Donna, & Joel B
Thank you to Patty Allen for the tent, and helping fitting PFD's. Betka, Chris, Sue H, peppy, Linda, Scott, and several other member helping with the tent.

Thank you to all who brought PFD's for adults and kids. We had more than enough this year.
If I forgot anyone I am sorry, I remember faces, not names to well.

All together we had 132 signed waivers with about 20 going back for seconds to try a kayak.

Also a thank you is in line for a member who had to work but had a great idea. Rich Allen, had Patty bring there canoe and we but it on display in front of our tent, with Ron's whitewater Kayak and a nice Rec Kayak so people could see the difference in boats.

All together I am very proud (& now relaxed) that we all came together and made today a big success. Like JP said it went very smooth from what I saw.

During the paddle I also heard people mention they never thought they would be on the Mahoning River. I also had the privilege to paddle to guest who were in town from New York City and kept telling me we are so lucky to live here and have this river in our area.

Again Thank you so much

Mike Danko

I would like to say thank you to all who helped out for Riverfest. I hear it went very well. As some of you have mentioned the group has provided a great service by providing these rides. The people who would have never gotten the chance to enjoy the natural beauty of the river, and those who will now look forward to their next canoe or kayak ride, or even better go out and buy one and realize the recreational opportunities they have been missing.

I wish I could have been there to help out, but I'm glad to hear it went so well. Thanks!
