Class I/II Rapids

Beaver Creek is one of my favorite trips of the year because I grew up paddling this section and camping at Sprucevale.

We will paddle from Sprucevale to the Lock 57 Community Launch in Ohioville PA.

Beaver Creek is known for its many class I riffles and two class II rapids as well as the scenic views.
Right after the St Rt 170 Bridge is the first class II rapid (Eagle Rapid). The second is after Grimm’s bridge (Dead's Man Curve). You can miss dead's man curve by going left and staying with the main current.
I advise everyone to bring a skirt for kayaks to help stay dry. Also an extra set of clothes is advised in a dry bag. Pack a lunch as we will stop near the middle to relax and stretch.
Any questions please call / text me 330-766-3129

Talking Trip Review

What a perfect day we had on Beaver Creek. Temps in the 80's & good water level a 4.2 ft at Grimms Bridge USGS. I knew the condition's were perfect because Bob Danko paddled. He is very picky on conditions
We had 10 paddlers (8 Kayaks & 2 Canoes) Make the 11 mile trek down Beaver Creek.
It started out a little rough for bob as he flipped twice in the first two miles. The first one was he got stuck and got out and flipped as he got back in. The bridge at Sprucevale was still in sight; that's how soon it happened.
Thanks to Stan & JP for helping him the second time as he almost lost his glasses.
Once we got settle it was an easy ride rest of the day. Eagle rapid was alive with several different channels to get through it. Several of us portaged up for a second pass.
everyone made it through dead's man curve with no problems.

It was nice to see several other paddlers on our journey and to see the creek being used by many.

Great day on one of my favorite Creeks
Thanks to all who came

It was my first paddle on Beaver Creek. I can see why it is one of Mike's favorite creeks. The creek winds through an area mostly void of any signs of civilization. There are enough rapids to keep things interesting/fun. I am adding Beaver Creek to my list of paddles to do annually. A big thanks to Mike for organizing an other great day on the water.
