BYOK: Paddle Before the Fireworks

8-10 PM

EXPERIENCED paddlers are invited to bring their own boats (and a safety light) for this dusk to dark excursion. Free, but call Ford Nature Center (330.740.7107) to register by July 1. Led by Ray Novotny of Mill Creek MetroParks (raynovotny@yahoo.com). Meet at East Newport Boat Launch.

***Ten of us enjoyed lightning bugs, an almost full moon, AND fireworks 8:30-10:30 pm on June 25th.

Four (women!) joined me for this.

We saw a bald eagle in the distance, a close up of a young beaver or muskrat
(was near lodge but I never saw the tail), adult beaver, deer swimming across creek, and lightning bugs. Also heard a young barred owl. No moon at all last nite. Only sounds of fireworks; no visuals.
