Friday, September 3

7:30 PM-9:30 PM

The peak period for singing insects is midway through, so we'll hope for a serenade tonight! We invite EXPERIENCED kayakers to bring their boats. Free, but register by calling Ford Nature Center (330.740.7107) by September 2. Participants must at least 18 years old. Please bring a light. Trip will depend on weather conditions. Meet at East Newport Boat Launch in Mill Creek Park. Led by Ray Novotny

Just wondering what is the defination of EXPERINCED for this event. Also does everyone need to bring a kricket bat

I work for Mill Creek Park. Here we deal w/many beginner/inexperienced kayakers. I just tweaked my park description for the post here.

Bats are optional.

Thanx to the 6 people (3 from the club) who joined me last nite.

While I sweated physically all week (90F +!), I also sweated mentally about the forecast of a crash in the weather. So thankful that it turned out to be fine for both the paddlers and the crickets!

Thanks so much to Ray for putting together these night trips on Lake Newport. It's a special treat to be able to paddle there after dark. To anyone in the club who hasn't done one of them, I recommend keeping your eye open for next year's schedule....and stock up on the glow sticks.
