Grand River
Grand River-Trip Leader Rich Klasen
When- Sunday April 3rd Where- Hidden Valley Park 4872 Klasen Road, Madison, Ohio 44057 GPS 41.741058, -81.048470 Time 11:00 am This year once again, the TCT scheduled trip on the Grand River. As always, weather and water will dictate what section we paddle. The target section will be from Harpersfield to Hidden Valley Park in Madison. Please dress according to conditions. I will be using my trailer to shuttle boats, one more trailer to aid in this would once again be a big plus. Any questions or comments, feel free to call me at (440) 228-3261 If anyone wants they could drop off boats at harpersfield and come to hidden valley. That also would help with shuttle. Harpersfield put it - 1162 Harpersfield Rd, Geneva, OH 44041 GPS 41.756712, -80.943980 thanks, Rich |

Rich asked me to give a heads up for this trip.
If the water level at Hidden Valley goes above 4 ft and with the cold temps he might cancel the trip and shoot for the end of the month. Please watch the site, and if anything does happen I will email the club. Mike |

Everything looks good, looking forward to paddling the grand.
Bring clothing that will keep you warm and dry. Spray Skirts for kayaks, and rain gear as a outside layer is a plus. Avoid all cotton if possible!! See ya tomorrow. |

Chilly Grand River
A warm Chilly Chili paddle was made up for today's paddle. At the put in time it was 30 degree's and when we took out it was 34 degree's.
A big thank you goes to Rich Klasen. Unfortunately Rich was feeling under the weather and recovering from being sick. That didn't stop him from helping four crazy paddlers. Rich helped with the shuttle and was super nice and met us at County Line Rd Bridge with WARM Pizza and HOT Chocolate. (Thank You) The four crazy paddlers were Stan, Jason, Jessica and Mike. 3 kayaks to 1 Canoe. Perfect water level at the bridge at 528 2.5 ft. USGS Painsville was 3.45 ft The only downside wasn't the temperature but the wind. The wind kicked my butt in the canoe and I ended up sitting behind the front seat to keep it straight, but loss my ability to turn it quickly. I know Bob K will be happy to hear this, I should have brought my kayak. Over all a nice paddle that is always a scenic paddle with snow covered valleys. Will have a couple of pics posted soon Mike Last edited by mfdanko99; 04-03-2016 at 08:48 PM. |
