Default pasta paddle

Hopefully we will be able to paddle our intended strech of the river, I say hopefully as water levels at the time of this post are 5' over normal levels with more rain on the way. The weather is supposed to be nice, and the upper Grand is always navigable above the dam. I will Make an early Saturday morning call on canoeing the lower stretch as planned, and post it here.

Default pasta paddle is a go

Hey everybody, lot's of worry this week about having too much water. Water level is at 5' at the time of this post and it should drop to around 31/2 to 4' by tommorow. Please plan ahead as class 1 riffles have become class 2 plus. Should be a lot of fun and we will finish under three hours. Unfortunitely I have to work 1/2 day tommorow, Saturday 15 May, but will be able to meet everone at Hidden Valley Park at 1:00. Sunshine and upper 60's predicted.

Smile Hidden Valley Location

Being totally unfamiliar with Grand River area, please give an approximate location of Hidden Valley Park that I can Google Map or enter on a GPS. I will be there. Coming up from Mahoning County...sounds like fun.

Default Hidden Valley Park location

Bob, check out Route 528 & River Road. The park is south of I-90.

Default pasta paddle

Eleven soul's from the TCT braved the 5' water levels on the rescheduled Pasta Paddle. A beautiful day and almost everyone stayed dry to enjoy the conditions, and some even had the opportunity to work on their "cowboy skills". I had a chance to use my canoe trailer for more than just a rolling canoe rack, and I am really pleased with the performance. On the down side; the 12.2 miles came and went far too quickly as boats were loaded after only 2 hours, with two twenty minute rest stops (one unscheduled), floating speed by GPS was over 5 mph. All got a chance to warm themselves by a fire while the spaghetti noodles were being preparred. I personnaly liked the sauce, and most were full when they drove home. Thanks to Ed for bringing his trailer. Will see everyone on the French Creek next week.

Sounds like a great time on the Grand and that the river was really movin'. Very sorry I couldn't be there. Try as I might to use a wild imagination, I can't quite figure out what "cowboy skills" might have come in useful on the trip, but it would sure be interesting to find out.

Everyone who missed this paddle, missed a good one and should kick themselves in the behind. Great river with beautiful scenery, wonderful (as usual) group of paddlers, terrific food and hospitality from a marvelous host and trip leader!!!!! THANKS
