Chilly Chili Run!!
Hi Everybody. You know what the funnest thing to do after Thanksgiving this year will be? The CHILLY RUN! Get your shopping done early so you can save Sunday, December 1st for the club's last run of the year. We will meet at Canoe City Park in Leavittsburg at 11am. We will get set up for the winter chili picnic and then shuttle up to Swift Park (weather permitting) about noon for the 4 mile paddle back to Canoe City to the food and fire! Mike tells me we have use of the building again so we will have some electricity. If someone has an E-Z UP canopy to bring, that would help if we have some rainy or snowy weather. I will be bringing a kettle of chili as is Mike, but we can always use more. Cookies, cornbread, cakes, chips, and cider would also be greatly appreciated.
Of course, cold weather paddling rules should be followed on this run. If you don't have a wet suit to use, dress in lightweight non-cotton layers with wind/waterproof outer layer. No carhart type suits or heavy coats. Bring extra clothes in a dry bag just in case. The Mahoning River in this section is classified as flatwater, but can be swift if there has been rainfall. See you there. Ed questions? post here or contact Mike or myself @ eartt16@aol.com

I don't know if I will make the paddle itself or not. I would like to, but Tori(my dog) and I will be at an agility trial that morning. But I will bring cookies and be there afterwards to hang out with everybody tho.

Chilly Chili Run was a hit.
We had a total 17 members show up using (7kayaks & 6 canoes) on the pretty day at canoe city. Plus One crazy dog who paddle and the second stayed warm in Jeff's truck.
We set up the food and tables in the building thanks to Zack of the Metro Parks. We did are shuttle to swift park and was unloading when my dad came by and said betka was at canoe city . We wait while dad go her and got bekta to JP canoe. From there we had some pictures and hit the water for a slow but easy paddle down the Mahoning River to Canoe City For this three mile trek we were spread out but could see everyone as we finished one by one. After the paddle we had a good dinner and quick meeting and called it a night. Thanks to all who came and brought food. Mike Danko |
