Default July 9th Clarion River

Hello, Come Join Trumbull Canoe Trails and the Noel family for a great day on the Clarion River. This trip is a little less than 11 miles. We will meet up at the Portland Mills Canoe launch Saturday July 9th at 11am. Some of us will be camping at Cook Forest State Park, Ridge Camp if anyone is interested. We will unload boats and proceed to shuttle cars to the Irwin Run Canoe Launch. The launch point is roughly at River mile marker 7. We will enjoy a scenic paddle done the Clarion taking in all the sights and sounds. At roughly river mile marker 13.5 there is an island with a campsite, on river left, we will pull in for a break. After break we will continue down the river. The second half of the trip contains Chassie rapid as well as the XYZ rapids. My guid book states “The short run down this section is an excellent opportunity for beginning whitewater kayakers to get the feel of an easy rapid in a relatively safe environment. Tips for safety: Run X left, Y right, Z right. We will stop at the top of each rapid to set up a safety teem and throw rope. Don’t let that scare you just safety first always. Please be patient if some of us want to run the rapids a few times. LOL We will take out at just before river mile marker 18 at Irwin Run Canoe launch. This should be a great run with a good opportunity for good paddling experience and beautiful scenery. Hope to see you on this run. Dustin 724-301-4751 dustinnoel@hotmail.com
