Trip Report
Seventeen paddlers in 14 kayaks and two canoes enjoyed a warm and mostly sunny day on the Cuyahoga between Tannery Park and Water Works Park. The Old Portage gage read in the neighborhood of 650 cfs, an enjoyable medium level that eliminated any concern for bumping and scraping, and created some nice standing waves at the rapids below the cobble bar where we stopped for lunch.
Eleven of these paddlers made the run down from River Bend before meeting the second group at Tannery. From the start of the rapids at Brady's Leap to Tannery, the current was really moving, and made for really fun paddling. The tricky section below the old dam where the main current plows head on into the island and a big log stretched across it created some carnage, but everything turned out fine. Thanks to all who came out. It was another great day to be on the river! A few pictures are posted in User Albums. |

Another satisfied customer
Ken and Cheryl enjoyed the paddle. We are getting better aquainted with some of the other members so that's nice too.
Mr Tolson, I don't know how you managed the logistics for the two part paddle with all the cars, boats and paddlers (especially the paddlers...HA!) but it appeared that everything went pretty smoothly. Kudos to you !! Ken ps...Photos are great. I especially like the overhead shot CR #2. That could be a club poster! |
