Foxburg
Foxburg Paddle: Alleghany River (Emlenton to Parker) Trip Leader Mike Danko
When- Sunday August 7th Where- Emlenton Boat Lunch 507 River Ave, Emlenton, PA 16373 GPS 41.176363, -79.708356 Time- 10:30 am. This year we will all meet at the Emlenton Boat Launch, and unload. Then we will shuttle down to Parker. (I will have a map with directions from Emlenton to Parker) I hope to be on the water a little before noon as our reservations at the Alleghany Grill are for 1pm. I called and all our information was already in the computer. The manager said they are glad to see we will be returning. After we eat we usually walk around town and check out the winery, chocolate store or get ice cream. We try to regroup and paddle down to the mouth of the Clarion River. Once at the confluence of the rivers we stop at the beach area and swim and jump off the bridge abutment. LOTS OF FUN!!! Then we paddle the last mile and half to our vehicles. Makes for a super fun day for all skill levels!!!! Mike Danko |

What a Paddle
What an Amazing Day on the Allegheny River through Foxburg
2nd year in a row we topped 40 for this paddle and in 2014 & 2013 we were a hair under 40. I think the shuttle worked out great by getting everyone to unload and given a map down to parker and then we all shuttled back. I know for sure 10 of us are a lot closer of friends as we shoved in to Rich Allen truck bed. Once we were on the water, you couldn?t ask for more. The weather was perfect and was so great to see so many new faces and some that are legends in our club. We made it to foxburg a little early but the Allegheny Grill was ready for us as we had the side room to ourselves plus another little group at the bar. Great food with some great company. Many of us walked around the town and checked out the winery, candy store and got some Ice Cream as well. (I know Ron was happy with the Ice Cream!!) As we started to reassemble at our boats we headed down river to the confluence of the Clarion River. Stopping at the little beach and swimming and jumping off the bridge abutment for me is the greatest part of the trip. To see all of us together and a chance for all of us to have the kid in us come out to play. After we tuckered ourselves out we made it back to Parker and helped each other pack up. I had the chance to keep Rich Allen?s kayak and get his new truck has he left the keys in his kayak as Jessica loaded in to my truck. His face of relieve when we pulled up in Emlenton with his stuff was fun to see. Overall an excellent day with the Trumbull Canoe Trails!!! Mike Danko |
