Default Lesson has been learned

Well I will not be able to make the paddle on Little Beaver Creek, due to me going out Saturday night a flipping my Diesel in Kent, OH on the Cuyahoga. I was unable to flip, wet exit and my boat is trapped against a tree.
Big thanks goes to Ron Ellis. I did what he has taught us and got clear and took care of myself. Jess made threw just fine and had to wait as I paddle myself down stream.

I am going back tomorrow to pull out the kayak with cables, cum-a- long and my truck.

I might get up early and try it and make a attempt to join everyone else on the Little Beaver Creek.

Cuyahoga river level this evening is 6.35ft @ 1630cfs. I guess that is a little to high for me at this point in my whitewater adventures.

Again thanks to Ron for good instructions

Glad to know that you didn't get hurt, Mike. Hope the boat can be salvaged.

Hi Mike,

Glad to hear that you and Jess are ok. Missed you at Beaver Creek and hope you got your kayak back today. Hope to see you on the Shenango.

Unhappy Humble Pie

On Sunday I was un able to get to my kayak, as the current was to strong for me. to get to it with kayak or rigging,But it was there.

Went back monday after work with a different rig set up and kayak, got to the spot were my kayak was, and found it wasn't there anymore.
I paddled from Kent to Monroe Falls looking at all strainers in hope of finding it.

No , luck. I will continue to look for it, but this is a big piece of Humble pie to eat. I still want to do whitewater kayaking, but learned for the time being when the cuyahoga in Kent is 1600 cfs, I better just watch.

Man, is that a rotten deal. My condolences on a lost boat. You might want to alert police departments downstream in case it shows up. I've only lost a boat temporarily once and it irritated the heck out of me.

Don't know what your skill level is for whitewater, but are you familiar with East Sandy Creek, Neshannock Creek, Scrubgrass Creek, or Bear Creek (all in PA)? Or how about the lower section of Slippery Rock Creek? Very familiar with those, and some other local runs, in case you're interested in a trip sometime.

Mike,
You may also want to put a notice on the Keelhauler's bulletin board to keep an eye out for your boat.
