I would suggest counting by paddle blades or total paddle length.. After all us double dippers have to suffer long shafts and multiple blades all day.

Default boat counting by laws

what about boat weight? lighter boat, more points? could make for some confusion, since I have heard some sit on tops are really heavy.

Default A Longer Boat

Ed,
I have a friend that will sell you a 27 foot Voyager. You could skew the counting quite a bit with that! Then, if you also take into account how many paddlers were in canoes you really get a bonus... The voyager will seat 11 paddlers.

11 paddlers would be more than two full "Dustin" units.
