Kiski River, PA Saturday?
Thinking about a trip on the Kiskiminetas River this Saturday, Aug 9th.... early afternoon. It's not too far from PA turnpike exit 48 (Allegheny Valley). There is a livery along the way called "Rivers Edge". They can provide shuttle ($10/boat). Thinking about floating from Vandergrift back down to the launch at Rivers Edge (their private launch). According to the Rivers Edge website, it is a 4 mile / 2 hour trip on flat water. Anybody interested, give me a shout on here or 724-601-9801.

Kiski Fun
We ended up doing the 8 mile float from Roaring Run Launch back down to Rivers Edge. Total time on water: 3:15. The gauge at Vandergrift was at 3.54 feet. Optimal levels are between 3 - 6 feet. We encountered some waves going under the Route 66 bridge, took on some water, but got through without too much angst.... though it was interesting. There were a couple of places where we had to get out and walk along side the boat for 10 or 15 yards to the left or right, to find a deeper channel. No strainers to report. Rivers Edge was reasonable for shuttle, and they seemed to be doing a good rental business there as well. There are restaurants near-by in Leechburg, and a primitive take-out that is a short walk to a Dairy Queen (sign on river right) about half way through this trip. The only restroom at Rivers Edge is a Porta-John, and at the Roaring Run Launch there is a permanent out-house with a non-flush toilet (that was out of TP). All-in-all, we were pretty pleased.
